Broom House Butchery News

Many of you will have seen our new display counters and vegetable sales area. Not only has it jollied the shop up but it now means that you can get everything you need for Sunday Lunch...and the rest of the week...under one roof.  In fact if you haven't been up to the shop for a while, why not pop up to see the changes we've made!  This is the time of year for sausages - with Halloween and Bonfire Night and National Sausage week approaching, why not try this tasty seasonal Sausage, Pumpkin and Sage Casserole.
Ian has announced the official start to our pre-Christmas build up!  The butchers are full of busy curing gammons ready for Christmas  - they take a couple of months to cure so this is always the first part of our preparations.  There's nothing like a Broom House Ham for Christmas - if you've never had one before, why not buy one now to practice with! As with Sirloin, Fillet and Rib of Beef, we never have enough, so do book your joints in good time this year. 
We've already had our first orders for the festive season, and as last year we will be offering a one-stop Festive Shop where you can leave us a list of everything from your turkey or duck to your trimmings and even your Christmas mince and mincemeat and we will have it all packed and ready for you. We'll be making our usual range of sausages, sausagemeats, chiplolatas, pigs in blankets, stuffings and bacon. This year we are extending our service to include orders for Christmas vegetables, dairy products and puddings to try and make your life even easier, and don't let worries about the weather put you off, we'll make sure that the road is clear or will meet you somewhere safe. 
Our Snowbuster Boxes and Boxing Day Breakfast Boxes sold well last winter and we will be delighted to make up individual hampers for you to give away as Christmas presents or fill your own freezer with before the snow arrives. We also have Broom House gift vouchers which make great presents as they can be used in the Butchery, Coffee Shop and Forest Trail...or how about giving somebody a voucher for one of our "Learn to Butcher" courses!
If you're still stuck for Christmas Shopping ideas then why not buy a Choristers' Cookbooks, full of original recipes that really work  - on sale in the Farm Shop for just £5.00. 
Our market stalls have been out and about this month - in Durham and at Christmas Fairs in Wynyard and Houghton-le-Spring.  It's Farmer's Market in Durham this Thursday and then we'll be at a few more Christmas Fairs over the next month or so - keep an eye on our website for details.
