Broom House Butchery News

Our very own Jamie, (known for his strength) is carrying in one of our lambs - we have a special fridge where we hang our meat once it comes back from the abattoir.  The lambs and pigs are taken to super efficient Jewitts' near Spennymoor, the journey takes Martin less than half an hour, which is great. At the moment we're using about 8 of our lambs a week. One of Jamie's jobs is to strip out some shoulders for our popular diced and minced lamb, it's quite time consuming work but we always like to have some ready on  display.  He also prepares racks of lamb and a range of different cuts each week. 

The Durham Farmers's market is still very busy, although April ended with a downpour and washout.  We also have a pitch in Durham Market Place every Saturday from 9am-2.30pm, do contact us if you would like us to bring any meat or eggs down to our stall for you.

 

Congratulations to David Lombard for winning the Easter Quiz: the answer was Northumberland Duck and David will be collecting his next week!
